Pilates is the rest of my life exercise and I am so thankful to have discovered it!
As the former queen of Aerobics, I pushed my body to the limit teaching multiple step, high impact and spinning classes per day. I ran, I lifted weights, and I stair climbed for hours upon hours. Little did I know that despite my best efforts, I would remain fit but fat and wind up with two hip replacements.
Life after Hip Replacements
Yes, that’s right- two hip replacements (but on the same left side). And I hung on to that stubborn layer of fat because, like most Americans of the day, I was firmly committed to a low fat, high carbohydrate diet….
But that was then, and this is now
That was before I discovered the Paleo diet and before I made Pilates the foundation of my fitness life.
I can’t run anymore, and I donated my beloved stairclimber to the gym, but I can bike, I can hike and I look and feel better than I have in years. The strength, connection and foundation that I have developed through Pilates training has been my saving grace. I can honestly say I feel I have finally hit my stride at fifty five and I owe it all to my Pilates practice.
- Imagine an exercise that connects the mind and body- giving your movement purpose and precision.
- Imagine an exercise that requires attention and focus- one that reveals the idiosyncrasies of your particular strengths, weaknesses and imbalances.
- Imagine an exercise that teaches you about moving more efficiently and effectively in your chosen sport and in your every day life.
- Imagine an exercise program that is so varied and unique that you never grow tired of the practice or the results it provides.
And oh yes, this exercise develops long, lean muscles, leaves you feeling grounded and calm and actually feels good! No more simply “surviving” the rigors of your time at the gym- you can actually ENJOY it!
I ain’t playin here! This is the God’s truth.
