This week, over 70 Kansas City Pilates 1901 clients, and others from around the country, began the 21 Day Sugar Detox together.
As part of Pilates 1901’s T School Fat Loss program, participants give up processed foods, empty calories and sugar for the first 21 days of the program.
It’s a remarkable task and for many, a challenging one. Here’s my update on DAY FOUR, urging our detoxers to stay the course to better health.
Okay, for most of us it’s Day FOUR of our 21 Day Sugar Detox Jumpstart.
How are you doing? I know there’s been a lot of activity on the FB page and a good lot of you are experiencing the normal “carb flu” that accompanies this stage of your detox… It ain’t no fun friends, but it is a process.
And it gets better day by day… I promise- very soon you will start to feel your energy return, your sleep improve, your mood stabilize and your skin glow. This is not a sales pitch- Just the facts!
1. Your baseline assessments.
I think we have completed most everyone’s baseline assessments except for late comers and one straggler. I hope you all took the time to read the handout on body composition to put your own results into context.
I didn’t like my own assessment results but they motivated me to stick to my own detox and regain the lean-ness I had before I went haywire this Summer. I know what to do and getting real about my body via the assessment is my jump off point. I can’t wait to see the difference in 3 weeks and in 8 weeks!
Research shows folks who keep food journals are 50% more successful in their fat loss goals- do not think this is a tool you can afford to forgo.
If you are having an issue doing this, enlist a team member or coach to keep you accountable by checking it once weekly. This is not “optional” if you are serious about your success.
3. Your Work(outs) and Play.
Even though we are focusing on the nutritional foundation of our health, we’re not abandoning the other two tenants: exercise and life balance. Your manuals contain workout journals and they are there for you to plan to make time for exercise- I would go a step further and also put in fun activities to do on your off days.
This can be as simple as going for a walk- scheduling a coffee date with a friend, reading a book or sneaking out to a good movie.
The important thing to remember is that you are changing your life HABITS, making your health and well being the center point.
I know many of you have stressful jobs and are juggling family and relationships on top of this- congratulations- you’re alive!
The truth is, taking care of yourself is the FOUNDATION that you give not only to yourself but to those you love and care about. What an example for your children- what a gift to your spouse- what a statement to your co-workers and friends.
WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS IMPORTANT AND LIFE CHANGING!
Do not doubt your choices just because you miss your friend sugar.
We are all good at making new friends. The kind that support our future, our families and our long time goals.
