Understanding Shoulder Stability and Function

11:30 am – 1:30 pm: The Shoulder Girdle: Reformer Progressions for Stability & FunctionThe shoulder girdle is one of the body’s most complex and mobile regions, making it especially vulnerable to injury, overuse, and dysfunctional movement patterns. In this lecture/demo workshop, developed by the STOTT PILATES® Academy team, you’ll explore how Reformer-based Pilates can play an effective role in post-rehabilitative programming.

Reformer-Based Progressions

Begin with an in-depth review of the anatomy and biomechanics of the healthy shoulder complex, then examine common compensatory movement patterns that develop following injury or chronic strain. From there, learn how a carefully selected exercise progression on the reformer can restore proper movement by improving awareness, scapular stability, strength, and functional mobility.

Improve Your Postural Assessment Skills

Postural analysis is the foundation of effective, individualized Pilates programming. In this hands-on workshop, developed by the STOTT PILATES® Academy team, you’ll review the principles of postural assessment and learn how to use your findings to create safer, more effective workouts.

Assessing Movement and Alignment

Explore the differences between static and dynamic posture, how each influences movement quality, and how postural patterns impact exercise selection and necessary modifications. Review the relationship between common postural deviations, muscle length, and muscle strength, then put theory into practice through guided postural assessments.0.2 CECsPlease sign up for our newsletter for continuing education updates. Book Private Pilates(opens in new tab)
